This collaboration with light-designer Elisabeth Kjeldahl Nilsson is a result of our work with LYDROMMET and presents a lot of the same material. But aimed at an adult audience.

We made an early attempt at the idea in October 2012 when we played 2 ad hoc concerts in the fantastic Emmanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo. With a fantastic 20 second reverb and an 800 m2 fresco the room was an inspiration, and the concerts were a big success. We have sinced made this an annual event, and christmas tradition - come December we dive into Vigeland's bizarre world for two nights and four shows. It's definitely one of the highlights of the year!

Like Lydrommet, Parallax+Nilsson focuses on interplay between sound and light, and centres around some of the same ideas and techniques. The concept is completely improvised and site-specific, and takes into account the acoustic and architectural qualities of the space. With a simple lighting-rig and extensive use of reflective materials, Nilsson transports the audience to another dimension and really gets their imaginations going. Parallax’ music is often described as cinematic, and adding the visual aspect to the performance enhances this quality immensely. Through a series of techniques and methods of interplay, the performers take the audience on a journey where light and music are equal partners. In other words, Elisabeth K Nilsson is like a fourth musician who can have a direct influence on the direction of the performance. This symbiotic quality of the concept makes it a completely unique experience, suitable for all ages.

We have played in a great variety of venues like factories, churches, art galleries and a mausoleum, and are always looking for places with exciting architecture and acoustics. For a few years now, we have had a dream of playing in caves, and it looks like this plan might actually happen in 2018. Everything is still in the early stages, but it looks like we will do a tour in the border area of Austria, Slovenia and Italy next year: Parallax+Nilsson - The Caveman Tour 2018. Exciting!
